Space Birthday Party - Rubén's Fourth!

International Space Station: Connected all our tents and tunnels.  The green ones are from Ikea (they can be found on Amazon, but for A LOT more.  You can also find actual space station tent set-ups on Amazon but they are over $100).

Printed out this logo, glued it to cardboard, stitched it in three places to the tent.

Tried to make it so you could look out of the ISS window to see Earth, but my picture was smaller and I had to put it in the small window.  Next time I'd print a larger, circular one for the big window.

It's hard to see, but this is a photo of the ISS crew floating around.  Put it on the flap at the end of the tunnel.

Puzzle station.  In the baggies are puzzle strips that you line up in number order, that make each of the planets.  Just search on Google for space puzzles to print out.  The boxed puzzle is one I got at Fred Meyer in the toy aisle.

Rocket ship! Covered the box in paper I bought at Ikea (roll) and painted.  Got the idea here.

Photo booth props.  Glued these all to skewer sticks using hot glue.  I cut the helmets out of a thick cardboard that I purchased at Michaels, using an exacto blade (got the idea here).  The earth, headband, and other sparkly stars are from the party store - check the costume aisle.  They usually have the headband thing around the space or Star Wars items.

Got 2 yards of this space fabric from Joann.

Great shot!  Got these "Space Googles" at the party store.

Welcome station.  Goody bags (purchased on Amazon) are underneath.  In the bags I put space suckers, space stickers, plastic jets, plastic astronauts, rock candy or star or space suckers, space shuttle gliders, green aliens, star glasses (party story), star erasers, etc.  The red/blue rocket toy can be purchased on Amazon.

Astronaut training cards - kids write their name and age, then complete the stations on the list. I printed them in color, cut, and glued to cardstock. The stickers on the title card are from Joann.

Noise makers, hats, and random space toys we own already.  I made the toilet paper tube space shuttle by painting it white (two coats) and using black paint and a Sharpie to do the design.  Cut out from tagboard for the wings by tracing a shuttle toy we already had.  Hot glued it to the tube.  That I idea I got from Pinterest.  The party hats were from the local party store.  The birthday table cloth is made from fabric I found at Joann fabric.

Art station for making foam door hangers.  I found the door hangers and foam space stickers at Michaels.  Made the rockets from toilet paper tubes, painted them grey and added tops and wings.

Printed out space jokes and cut and glued them to cards.  Google space jokes.

Rounded up our space children's books.  Besides straight up space, I added in those such as "Good Night Moon" and "My Mommy Hung the Moon" since they have moon in the title.

Space mazes I found searching on Google.

Alien worksheets I found on Google: connect the dots, match the alien to the shadows, if I were an Alien, etc.

Updated our curious George birthday sign by covering up the George circle and adding a rocket.  Added black eyes (but on thick black paper, taped with blue painters' tape) to the green balloons to make them aliens.  Got the idea here.

Purchased these inflatables on Amazon, it comes as a set.  There is a pool outside, so the kids played in the water with these.

Found the space shuttle piñata on Amazon.  Got the plane one previously at a party store.  Piñata stick was from the party store, but it broke when we were using it!  Luckily my mom had purchased a padded baseball bat for my son for his birthday!

Printed these constellation worksheets from online.  Made the painted black tube to be a telescope, cut out the four black circles and punched holes in them to match the constellations on the worksheet.  Hot glued the circles to skewer sticks.  Kids did the dot-to-dot worksheet, then looked at the constellations in the telescope to match them up.

Space candy: Starbursts, Moon Pies (had to get them on Amazon), Milky Way, Eclipse and Orbit gum.  The small candies in the middle are just chewy smarties or something like that.

The rocket balloon was purchased on Amazon.  The star and Earth ones were at the party store.

I made these hanging decorations by purchasing some cardstock paper (stack of random colors) at Ben Franklin craft store.  If you purchase paper there, they let you use their die cuts.  Found all these shapes: stars, planets, rocket, Earth, Space Needle, moon, and USA.  Used black thread and tape to string them together.

Paired the alien balloons with stars and tied in places around the room. Covered the art tables in paper just in case.

Made cupcakes in space papers (got on Amazon, came with the things to poke in it, too).  Space plates and cups from Amazon, but I saw them also at the local party store.  My thoughts were for them to decorate with the chocolate frosting, then put on the star sprinkles, use the squeeze green frosting with star tip, and stick in a spaceship, USA flag, or rocket ship decoration.  They also used the green letters to customize them.  How fun!  I also had space candles from Amazon.

The kids loved launching these foam rockets!  Purchased on Amazon: click here.

I almost forgot - didn't get a picture, but we did a Space Egg Hunt using our Easter eggs, which were purchased on Amazon.
